OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
The Dahlonega Merchants' Association works with merchants, industry, businesses, local government, and the community to promote growth and development, and provide services for visitors, residents, and the local tourist industry.
OUR PURPOSE:
The Dahlonega Merchants' Association is organized for the purpose of advancing the commercial, industrial, civic and general welfare of the citizens of the city of Dahlonega. The Dahlonega Merchants' Association shall be nonpartisan, nonsectarian, and its primary objectives shall be to promote the business interests of the community as a whole without discrimination in favor of or against any citizen or business enterprise.
In December, we received this message from one of our dear customers, who's family has a tradition of coming to Dahlonega at Christmas time:
Dear City of Dahlonega,
My name is Chelsea Mathews and I want thank you for helping create a treasured Christmas tradition for our family. For the past four years our family has come to Dahlonega and gotten our Christmas trees, along the way we learned of your wonderful tradition of having Santa Claus in the town square for the children and adults. Amazing in this day and age that you can come to a City and have an opportunity to have your children sit with Santa "Free of charge" and create stress-free Santa memories. The usual story I hear from friends that do not share our tradition of coming to Dahlonega, is long lines and high fees just to see Santa. The sweetest memory for me is that our 4 year old says every time she sees another "Santa Claus" that they are not the real Santa, because the real Santa is in Dahlonega.
We intend to return each year at Christmas and stay the weekend, enjoy your great food, shopping and wonderful Christmas atmosphere. Please keep up the great work and remember that there are probably many families just like us that feel the same way..
